Question:

What are some problems your dog has encountered as s/he ages?

Answer:

My English Bull Dog is getting older, and one of the main problems he has had is joint pain, especially in the hips. After talking to my vet, I put him on anti-inflammatory medications, as well as a senior dog food, both of which have helped ease his symptoms.

Answer:

I own a chihuahua. He has gotten up there in years, and it's difficult for him to get around. He's also had some hearing problems.

Answer:

I have a Lab. He has some common breed specific aging issues. He has arthritis in a few of his joints (hips mostly), and he is slowly becoming less and less energetic because of it.

Answer:

My Maltese is 9 months old but she's already encountered her fair share of problems. She contracted mites at birth from the breeder's dogs, and they didn't treat her. We got her early. They gave her to us at 7 1/2 weeks and it took about a month for them to go away. At 4 months old, her Trachea collapsed. It took about two months to get that to a level we could manage. She still will continue to deal with that problem. She now has double canines on the top and the bottom which is common in small dogs. She will need them surgically removed.
