Question:

How do you take care of your dog after hip surgery?

Answer:

After my English Bull Dog had hip surgery, I knew the most important thing was to listen to the vet's advice. I limited the dog's activity for a long time and did not allow him up on the couch or to go up and down stairs. I would carry him and gated the stairs so he could not do them on his own. I also followed the vet's instructions on warning signs to watch out for and had emergency contact information if he had a problem in the middle of the night.

Answer:

My dog had hip surgery and then came home. I had to carry him around for over 3 weeks, and give him lots of rest. Try to keep your dog as immobile as possible.

Answer:

After a hip surgery, the dog must rest for around 2 months. Over-movement must be avoided. In the first week after surgery, I gave pain killers to the dog.
