Getting Dog Medical Symptoms Examined: Don't Play Vet

Some medical symptoms expressed by your dog might not be that big of a deal, but others might be. If you are ever unsure of the severity of your dog's condition, consult your veterinarian. There are some symptoms that, if persisting over a period of time, should be checked out.

Coughing Can Be a Serious Symptom

A condition that you cannot handle on your own is chronic coughing. Infrequent coughing is one thing, as it may go away on its own. But if your dog continues to cough for upwards of two weeks, it may be a sign of something serious, such as bronchitis, pneumonia, lung and heart failure.

Breathing Problems May Require Medical Attention

Breathing problems are another tricky area. Your dog may exhibit unusual breathing patterns for a while and, if so, it may not be anything serious. But if the problem persists, it may a symptom of infection, heart or lung failure, blood in the lungs, and tumors.

Perpetual Inactivity Is a Cause for Concern

Similarly, lethargy may be a serious problem as well. Your dog may be in a perpetual state of drowsiness and inactivity for several serious reasons, such as skeletal, muscular, or immune disease, urinary tract disorders, anemia, and cancer.
