I took Pet Health Insurance policy to my loveable pet because we are thinking him as one of family members so we need to care of his health.
I have VPI (Veterinary Pet Insurance) for my Border Collie mix. The only reason I choose it is because it was offered through a program at my work. I have just the basic package with them, enough to get preventative care and to have her spayed.
I purchased pet health care insurance for my Maltese just before I got her. I highly recommend to anyone who is getting a new puppy to get this insurance. She ended up needing treatment for Mites and a Collapsed Trachea along with other minor check ups as a baby. She wasn't taken care of well by the breeder. I saved so much money on her health care.
The best type of dog insurance is to select a pet from an intelligent, sturdy breed. We have an eleven year old black Lab who has had only minor one trip to the vet other than her annual checkups. She gets lots of exercise, she eats right, and she is healthy. Avoid picky breeds which are prone to maladies, and you will not need dog health insurance.
