If left untreated, yeast infections can cause a multitude of health concerns for your pet. Here are a few natural home remedies that will help cure your dog’s yeast infection.

Acidophilus

Acidophilus, milk or yogurts containing L. acidophilus are natural home remedies for yeast infection in dogs. Acidophilus can easily be mixed into your pet’s dry food. Acidophilus can be purchased at most natural health food or grocery stores and may come in pill, capsule or powder form.

Small dogs will benefit by having 2 tbsp to ¼ cup of acidophilus daily while larger dogs may require ¼ to ½ cup to obtain results.

Apple Cider Vinegar

A few tablespoons of apple cider vinegar added to your pet’s water bowl can be beneficial to curing your dog’s yeast infection. The apple cider vinegar should be added each time the water bowl is freshened.

Some pet owners may find that mixing the apple cider vinegar in the dogs dry food works better than combining with water. If you notice your dog seems to be limiting his water intake, add the apple cider vinegar to his dry food mix instead.

Vitamin C

Vitamin C has antioxidant properties that can help fight bacterial and viral infections in your pet. Inserting a chewable Vitamin C tablet in your dog’s food is a beneficial natural home remedy for yeast infection in dogs. If your dog refuses the pill form, crush into powder and mix with his food.

Topical Solution Made of Apple Cider Vinegar

One topical remedy to ease the discomfort of itching is a 50/50 mixture of warm water and apple cider vinegar. Spraying your pets affected areas with this solution will remove the itch. This solution is safe to use on their ears and their private areas.

Topical Solution Made of Oatmeal

A paste of colloidal oatmeal and warm water can be made and applied with a soft cloth or cotton balls on inflamed areas of your pet. This will need to be reapplied every few hours for continued ease of discomfort.

If your pet has generalized itching instead of specific area discomfort, you may find giving him a bath of warm water and oatmeal is a better solution to reduce the itching. Allow him to soak for approximately 10 minutes before removing him from the bath. Pat him dry instead of rubbing.

Epsom Soak for Your Pet’s Feet

If your pet’s feet or toes seem to be afflicted, a mixture of Epsom salts and warm water can be made to soak his feet in. Ensure that your pet is prevented from drinking this mixture. Allow your pet to soak his feet for approximately 10 minutes.

By following these natural home remedies for yeast infection in dogs, your pet will become more comfortable while healing from their infection.
