Question:

What have you done to accommodate for an old dog?

Answer:

While still in great health, our eleven year old Labrador Retriever surely enjoys the softer dog bed we have gotten for her. We also remind the kids not to play too hard and long with her. The dog will run and fetch as long as the kids ask of her, and if we let them go too strong, she gets too tired and winded.

Answer:

We put a rug down on our hardwood floors to help our aging Golden Retriever. This helped her get traction on the slick floors and she was more confident navigating the house.

Answer:

My Dalmatian is now 14, way past her years. I give her glucose treats to ease her bones and bought her a nice soft plush bed to sleep on. I also let her do more things like sleep on the couch to ease her age.

Answer:

Shih-Tzu's are know for having hip problems later in life. So now we have two older dogs with hip issues. One is overweight the other is right about where she needs to be. To help out the dogs, we feed them hip and joint treats to keep their hips good and we put the overweight dog on a diet.
