Parvaid for Dogs

When puppies or dogs are diagnosed with parvovirus, also known as parvo, many dog owners are turning to Parvaid to help combat the disease and provide support to their dog’s system, rather than using the traditional route of intravenous fluids. While not a cure, Parvaid does help to stop symptoms such as vomiting and diarrhea, and provides systemic support to allow your dog’s body to fight the disease.

Parvovirus

Parvovirus is a viral disease that affects a dog’s intestinal tract, causing extreme vomiting and diarrhea. Because of the dehydration associated with the vomiting and diarrhea, many dogs that contract it do not survive. While there is a vaccine that helps protect dogs against the virus, it is not 100% effective, and dogs can still contract the disease, even after immunization.

Parvaid

Parvaid is a proprietary herbal combination that was developed in 1997 to help dogs overcome parvo. A completely organic formulation, Parvaid provides assistance to your dog’s system.

  • Parvaid contains 4 anti-microbials that help your dog to fight against the virus.
  • There are 3 herbs in Parvaid that work to calm your dog’s stomach, to stop the cycle of vomiting and diarrhea.
  • There are 2 additional herbs in Parvaid that help your dog build up his immune system, enabling his body to remain stronger and more effectively fight the disease.

The combination of herbs and anti-microbials has proven to be almost 90% effective in helping dogs who have contracted parvo to survive the disease.

In addition to treating parvo, Parvaid has also been used to help dogs experiencing vomiting and diarrhea caused by dietary indiscretion, nervous stomach due to environmental changes and gas or stomach distress caused by traveling.

Administering Parvaid

Parvaid is a liquid that is added to oat water to be consumed. Parvaid must be given for a full 10-day course in order to fight the virus and to help build your dog’s immune system and prevent any secondary infections. The amount of Parvaid added to oat water is determined by your dog’s weight. Standard dosing directs you to administer Parvaid 3 to 4 times daily, depending upon the current condition of your dog.

Traditional Treatment for Parvovirus

Because parvovirus has no cure, the traditional method is to provide supportive treatment and allow the dog’s body to fight the virus. Supportive treatment typically includes intravenous fluids and keeping the dog warm and comfortable. Antibiotics can also be administered to fight any secondary infections that can take advantage of the parvo attack on the weakened immune system.

Parvaid is gaining in popularity for providing supportive treatment for dogs affected by the parvovirus. While not 100% effective, it does give the dog supplements that stop the cycle of vomiting and diarrhea, while providing herbal supplements that strengthen his immune system. Many dog owners are now choosing to keep a bottle of Parvaid in their dog first aid kit, not just for parvo, but to help their dog with other gastro-intestinal problems they may have. The support provided by Parvaid can provide enough of a boost to your dog’s immune system to help him overcome parvo.
