  • How long does it usually take for ear mites to clear up?
Foster cat diagnosed w/ear mites. Instructed by the vet to irrigate each day and instill 4 drops of med. Done for 3wks. Still crusty discharge from ear. Last irrigation, purulence was attached to a piece of the "crud". Was advised to keep regimen going. Concerned a more serious conditions may exist but don't want to challenge vet. Scope eval. never done to rule out Staph or Yeast. Want him to find a good home but must get ear issue cleared up first. Please advise.

  • Cat has black-gray lumps embedded under the skin in his ears- what are they?
He is about 13 years old, and otherwise relatively healthy. We clean out his ears, but the lumps are still very prominent. There are so many a quick glance makes it look like his ears are almost black (he is an orange cat). I can't find anything online similar to this problem, and over the phone the vet suggested that it might be blackheads. But nowhere else is there an example of blackheads inside the cat's ears. What are these? And how do we treat them?
  • How to clear up fungus & yeast in cat's ears?
Is there a home remedy, or inexpensive solution that works well and quick? I just read an article about using mineral or baby oils as a start. The pain associated with the dryness and cracking of fungus is irritating my cat so badly that he is scratching his face and ears very badly. Dr prescribed antifungal cleansing solution in the past but we can't afford to go to dr. Antifungus ear drops OTC?
  • Cat ear: is there anything that can be done for hemotoma scarring?
My chihuahua had a hemotoma on her ear which now seems to be fully drained, but has left severe scarring. Her ear is also half the size of her other ear. Is there anything that can be done to get the ear back to normal or close?
  • How can I treat an ear infection in my cat without antibiotics?
My cat has a moderate staph infection in her middle/inner ear, and is very dizzy and falling over (for the last week). She's been on 2 types of antibiotics and has had horrible side effects (vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy). I don't want to put her on any more antibiotics, can you recommend anything else?
