My 15 year old cat seems to have trouble walking

Hi, About a month ago my cat seemed to have balance problems and was leaving blood from his penis whenever he sat down, I took him to the vets and they gave him antibiotics and did several blood tests on him. The blood tests came back clear and after the shot and the medication he seemed to get better. He lost weight over the last 6 months or so, but not drastically. Today he has woken up and he seems to have trouble walking. His left leg seems very weak, but he doesn't cry if I touch it.

If his left leg is cold, this may be the result of a blood clot. This could be a very serious situation. If the blood clot is not dealt with immediately he may have to have the leg amputated if a blood clot is the culprit. You should have your cat examined by a veterinarian. He may have arthritis or some other bone issue that is causing limping and weakness. If your veterinarian suspects this condition he or she may want to have x-rays performed on your cat. Your cat may be able to be treated with pain medication or he may need a more complex treatment regimen.

My 13 year old cat is exhibiting odd behavior. He will jump on me to lay down on my stomach or chest (normal for him) and will start kneading. He keeps kneading and lowers his hind quarters into a crouch almost like he is going to defecate (though he never has) and continues to knead. He won't lay down and relax. If I try to touch his hindquarters to encourage him to lay down, he cries out and jumps off me. He does have hyperthyroidism and takes 5 mg of methimazole twice per day. He doesn'

  • 16 yr old cat who is vomiting and has diarrhea?

Approximately 2 months ago periodically I began finding mucousy, bloody diarrhea and vomit that was mostly fluid with very little matter in it. I finally determined it was my oldest cat (16 years). I took her to my vet who surmised a thyroid issue, but the blood work came back negative. My vet says her blood work is remarkably good for a cat of her age. What else should I be looking at? She also lost 1/2 lb. this past year. Her appetite appears normal. She seems to vomit shortly after eating.

  • Geriatric cat with urination issues

I have a 16 year old neutered male cat, that for the past 2 years has been urinating on my kitchen counters, and bathroom floor. He has his own litterbox, since we also have two 5 year old female cats who are mostly outdoor kitties. Mostly this happens when we leave for the weekend, but not always. He has a clean bill of health other than a slight heart murmur, that the vet assures me is normal for his age. Do you have any idea why he would do this? Or how to stop it?!
