The Three Most Competitive Veterinarian Schools

Veterinarian schools can prepare you for a fruitful career in veterinary medicine. However, some schools are better than others. Here are th six most competitive veterinary schools in the US.

Cornell University

Cornell University's College of Veterinary Medicine is the best in the country. In fall 2005, 871 students applied but only 86 were accepted. Application requirements include:

  • MCATs or GREs
  • VMCAS by Oct 1
  • Supplemental materials by Oct 5
  • Extended deadline is Nov 1
  • Notification occurs in January.

The University of Pennsylvania

The University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine accepted 110 out of 1300 applicants in Fall 2005. Application requirements include:

  • A GPA of 3.5
  • GREs by Dec 1
  • VMCAS by Oct 1

Notifications occur from January to April.

Colorado State University

Colorado State's College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences accepted 135 out of 1446 applicants for Fall 2005. Application requirements include:

  • GREs
  • VMCAS by Oct 1
  • Supplemental information by Oct 1

Most seats go to residents of Colorado, though they do accept non-residents. Notification occurs from mid-January to mid-February.
