A Simple Dog Constipation Remedy for the Home
While you should bring your dog to the veterinarian if the problem persists more than twenty-four hours, try some of these suggested remedies at home to ease your dog's constipation.
Pumpkin
Pumpkin is a natural laxative that won't harm your dog. Try this trick:
1. Purchase a can of pumpkin -- not pie-filling!
2. Add 1/4 cup of the pumpkin to your dog's food
3. Do this until the entire can is gone over the course of one day
Milk
Dogs don't love milk as much as kittens do, but milk might help your dog's constipation problem go away. Since dogs will drink anything that you put in front of them, simply place a small bowl of milk at their feet.
If this is effective for your dog, he should be able to have a bowel movement after a little while.
Other Symptoms to Watch Out For
If you happen to notice the following symptoms, your dog may have a larger issue than just
constipation:
* Bloody stools
* Diarrhea
* Other concurrent problems
