Treating Dry or Cracked Kitten Paws With Omega-3

Dry or cracked kitten paws are a clear sign of an imbalanced diet. Omega-3 is a healthy way to treat your kitten's paws and boost his immune system.

Omega-3 in Your Kitten's Diet

If you notice that your kitten's paws are dry and cracked, this means that there is an oil or fatty acid deficiency in your pet's diet. You have the option to treat the fatty acid deficiency by giving your kitten food that is rich in omega-3. Great sources of omega-3 are: fish oil, salmon or flax seeds. However, omega-3 is also available as a supplement.

A kitten with dry paws may also be dehydrated. If your cat is dehydrated, wet food is the answer. The best treatment is to give your kitten a wet food diet that contains omega-3.

Alternative Treatment Options

Besides administering your kitten omega-3, you can use some topical creams for your kitten's paws. Cocoa butter can help keeping the paws hydrated. Creams that contain vitamin E are also good for the skin. You can also add some vitamin E supplements in your cat's diet.
