Treating Canine Ear Mites with Eradimite and Otomite Plus

Canine ear mites are tiny spider-like mites that infect dogs and cats. They feed on the epidermal debris and wax in the ear canal, but also live in other parts of your dog's body. Breeds with floppy ears are more susceptible to ear mite infections than others.

Eradimite

Eradimite contains Aloe Vera and kills ear mites. It also removes ear wax from the infection. Eradimite has Pyrethrin, an insecticide that kills ear mites and ticks. Solutions without some sort of insecticide will not kill the mites. Do not use on nursing dogs or those under 12 weeks old.

  • Add 10 drops in each ear.
  • Massage the base of each ear a few minutes.
  • Wipe the excess solution with cotton.
  • Repeat every 2 days until the condition clears up.
  • Bring your dog to the vet if he does not improve.

Otomite Plus

Otomite Plus is made by Virbac and has high levels of synergized pyrethrins. You can use it on your dog regardless of his age. It should kill the canine ear mites fast as well as coat the entire ear canal. First, clean your dog's ears with a low pH cleanser and then apply Otomite.

  • Cover the outside of each ear canal with the solution.
  • Administer every 7 days, according to your dog's condition.
  • Do not use more than twice a week.
  • If your dog's condition does not get better within 2 weeks, stop the drops and consult your veterinarian.
