The best way to clean your furniture and floor is to use Pine Sol. Also another trick is if you can pull your carpet back and slide a sheet of newspaper under the stain, the smell goes away. My husband says it's from the printer ink in the newspaper.
I own a Basset Hound, and when he was a puppy, he would make a mess on the floor all the time. Since I have hardwood floors, a little bit of bleach would do the trick nicely, not only would it clean the floor, but it would also remove the smell of the pee, so he would not do it in the same place again.
The best products I have found for urine is Nature's Miracle. It comes in many different types (dog, cat, spray, economy-size, etc). Soaking the area and then blotting for stain removal and letting the rest air dry is the best remedy. Make sure to keep all animals away from the drying area until it is absolutely dry.
