One of the most painful types of cancers to affect dogs is osteosarcoma, or canine bone cancer.
Carcinoma cancer may first become apparent if one notices their dog has difficulties walking. Abnormal dog lumps may also be found in the affected areas. If your dog displays any of these symptoms, schedule an appointment with your vet for a checkup and possible biopsy.
Foods rich in antioxidants have shown to have many benefits for dogs with canine bone cancer. Antioxidants can help prevent or slow-down the growth of cancer in a dog's bones because it can help protect its body from the damage caused by free radicals.
Many vets will recommend that canines with bone cancer ingest antioxidants in the form of whole foods, as they are found in their natural state or foods that only contain natural ingredients. However, supplements do exist. Vitamins that have antioxidants in them include Vitamins A, C, and E. Beta carotene, lipoid acid, selenium, and lycopene also contain antioxidants.
