Dog exercises are very important for your dog's health and well-being. But just because you can't take your dog outside doesn't mean the two of you can't enjoy some of these physical activities indoors. Here are five exercises you can do with your dog indoors.
A staircase is a good place to play fetch. Running up and down the stairs will provide a lot of good exercise for your dog.
Teaching your dog to balance on an exercise ball is good for developing his core strength.
Games of fetch with a stuffed toy are ideal for most sitting rooms.
Teaching your dog to beg and crawl will also develop his balance and abdominal muscles.
The best exercise for your dog is mental as well as physical. Teaching your dog some new tricks will challenge his mind as well as his body.
Start with simple tricks, such as lie down, sit, and beg, then progress to more complicated tricks. Keep training sessions short-- no longer than fifteen minutes-- but have them as often as necessary.
Teaching your dog new tricks helps the two of you form a closer relationship as you observe your dog's learning process. Be positive and patient when teaching your dog tricks.
