Arthogen for Dogs

Veterinarians often prescribe arthogen for dogs with joint pain and arthritis. Arthritis is a very painful, degenerative joint disease that is common in older dogs that are overweight. However, it can strike dogs of all ages and sizes. It’s characterized by the wearing away of the cartilage that covers the ends of bones. Due to the wearing away of the cartilage, two proximal bones touch each other. Dogs suffering from arthritis experience pain and inflammation, particularly because the bones come in contact without the protective covering of the cartilage. This pain and inflammation is known as arthritis.

Symptoms of Canine Arthritis

  • Lameness
  • Stiffness
  • Difficulty to lie down or stand up
  • Reluctance to climb stairs
  • Lethargy
  • Weight gain
  • Reluctance to exercise, play or go for walks

Treatment of Canine Arthritis

Dogs with arthritis should be encouraged to have regular exercise in the form of walking or swimming. Along with exercise, it’s necessary to modify their diets to a low fat and low carbohydrate diet so that they can lose any excess weight they have gained and attain healthy weight. This should be done in conjunction with drug therapy for maximum effect. Drugs that contain glucosamine and chondroitin sulphate are preferred as they relieve the symptoms of arthritis.

Arthogen for Dogs

Arthogen is scientifically formulated with a blend of Glucosamine HCl and chondroitin sulphate and helps to slow the action of enzymes that break down cartilage. These enzymes are also responsible for the wearing away of the protective cartilage coating around bones. Although similar drugs are available, Arthogen is nearly half the price of its competitors and is thus very affordable. Arthogen doesn’t claim to cure arthritis but helps relieve the suffering in arthritic dogs. It’s available as chewable tablets with beef and cheese flavors that are highly palatable to dogs. Arthogen is manufactured by PetLabs360 and there are no adverse side effects to the drug.

Ingredients

The main ingredients of Arthogen are Glucosamine HCl, chondroitin sulphate, Vitamin C and manganese. It also contains other ingredients such as maltodextrin, cellulose, beef flavor, cheese flavor, brewer’s yeast, stearic acid, hydrogenated vegetable oil, xanthan gum and silicon dioxide. The manufacturers guarantee that human grade ingredients are used to produce this drug meant for consumption by dogs.

Dosage

The recommended dosage of these tablets varies with the weight of the dog. Small dogs that weigh less than 25 pounds should be generally given half a tablet daily, whereas dogs weighing between 25 and 49 pounds should ingest 1 tablet daily. Heavier dogs weighing between 50 and 100 pounds should be administered1 to 2 tablets daily and dogs that weigh more than 100 pounds should be given 2 tablets daily.
