Using a Dog Shedding Brush

A dog shedding brush removes dead hairs and helps in the grooming of the pet. Dog hair may be a problem, especially during the shedding seasons or when the dog is affected by a medical problem that leads to hair loss.

Dog Shedding Brush

A dog shedding brush is a grooming tool that may come in handy when the dog sheds an excessive amount of hair and you need to control the hair in your home.

The shedding brush is an easy to use tool that will remove the excessive hair in just a few minutes.

The shedding brush has many benefits such as:

  • Removes dead hairs
  • Spreads the essential oils produced by the skin, making the hair shiny and healthy
  • Reduces the amount of hair and dander the dog sheds in your home, which can be particularly beneficial for people in your family that have allergies to the dog’s dander

How to Use Dog Shedding Brush

The brushing should be a relaxing experience both for the dog and the owner and you may also bond with your pet.

You can start by making the dog feel comfortable by either giving him a treat or using some comforting words. The dog doesn’t have to sit still during the brushing and you can move around your dog, especially if he is a larger pet. You may want to keep the dog on a leash, so that he won’t move uncontrollably. You may also give your dog his favorite toy, so that he is more likely to stay in one position until you finish the brushing.

Start the brushing from the neck area, which will relax the dog. You can continue with the back and tail, limbs and then the belly, the front of the neck and the head. Make sure you avoid the eye and ear areas, as the dog can be particularly sensitive and you may also end up hurting him by accident, especially if the dog doesn’t sit still. Ensure you cover both sides of the dog’s body.

The strokes should be short and quick. Brush in the direction the hair grows, not against it. Never press the brush against the dog’s skin, as this can hurt him. After covering the dog’s entire body with the brush, start stroking with your hands to remove the excess hair.

The brushing can be performed outside, as this will minimize the amount of hair that will land in your home, on furniture or carpets. Alternatively, you can choose to perform the brushing in the bathroom or the basement (or any space where you don’t spend much time) and thoroughly clean up afterwards. Avoid performing the brushing in your bedroom or in the living room.

Reward your dog after each brushing.

When to Use the Shedding Brush

The dog shedding brush may be used in all breeds of dogs and may be used on a daily basis. However, it may suffice to use the tool only once or twice per week.
