How do you get rid of fleas off of kittens

we rescued a baby kitten from the woods and now he has terrible fleas we want know how we should treat them without spending a lot of money?

    How old is your kitten? If he is still nursing all you can do is bathe him with regular shampoo, dry him well, and use a flea comb (one with very fine tines) to remove the fleas and kill them. If he's 8 weeks or older you can use a flea shampoo followed up by a topical flea medication that's labeled for kittens. The newer flea topicals (like advantage) can be used monthly, kill adults and larvae and are extremely safe. Because they are so effective usually treating for 2 to 3 months is all that is required if you didn't have a previous flea problem and your kitten doesn't go outdoors. With older sprays you had to treat the house and your pet several times and because they only killed adult fleas, you had to treat for a longer period and were less effective.
