It is very possible and seems likely from your description that your cat's tail tip got caught in your door. This likely caused the hair on the end of your cat's tail to be removed. This is not a problem you need to be concerned about if the skin at the end of the tail seems alright and if your cat will let you touch the end of her tail without acting in pain. He or she should be fine even if the door broke the skin a little at the tail tip. If your cat has broken his or her tail, you may want to seek veterinary care to get some pain medications, but there is little that can be done to support the break and it will need to heal on its own. -Erika, DVM

  • Our cat woke up this morning with slight, is this the end

PJ is only two years old so this is not an issue of age. She has always been "challenged" in that she doesn't appear to have normal coordination and balance of other felines I've had. She overcompensates on her jumps in order to make certain that she lands on something. This morning is unusual ... and when we pick her up she cried loudly as if it hurts but we can't tell where she hurts. We cannot afford "tests" so we just don't know if this is the "end" for her or not. Thanks for advice

I do not think anything is broken and she does not seem to be in pain when I palpate her leg but does seem uncomfortable when I palpate her hip. Does this sound like just a bruising or does she need to go to a vet?
