  • Should blood work be done before a dog is given Metronidazole?

  • My dog has a cyst inside her mouth should I get it removed

Boil on Inside of mouth. my 6 year old female weimaraner has very quickly manifest a cyst inside her mouth on the left side of the inner cheek. I call it a cyst though it looks and behaves more like a boil. when i first found it i tried to turn her cheek out a bit to get a better look at it and it burst releasing puss and blood. it doesn't seem to hurt her much but it looks like she's squirreled away a couple peppermint candies in her jaw. HELP... will this go away or should i get it removed by the vet?

They will chase after squirrels in the yard, but are baffled by balls, bones or tugging toys. Is there anything we can do to teach them how to play? Thanks,Liz (& Binkey & Ella)

  • Dog ankle problems for my puppy. What's wrong?

Dear Veterinarian, We recently adopted a 2 month old puppy that seems to be a mix between husky and samoyed. We've only had her for three days. This morning we woke up, took her on a walk, and on the way home from the walk, she was limping. Her two front legs appear bow-legged. The ankles stick out far to the side laterally, away from her body, making her toes point inward. We pressed all over her front legs and she doesn't yelp at all. Also, there was no injury that we know of.

  • Chow mix dog with diarrhea for three weeks

Mysterious diarrhea We have an 8 yr old Welsh Corgi Chow mix with diarrhea for three weeks. This is his second bout in three months and he has lost ten pounds (was previously 42#). He is on an azathioprene and methylprednisolone regimen for an immune deficiency disease and was recently diagnosed with a urinary tract infection. We have tried giving him I/D food to manage his stools but as soon as we try to incorporate regular food, his difficulties return. We have tried food designed for pets with food allergies and are still having the same issue. He does not appear to have a parasite and there were no other abnormalities on his blood tests besides the urinary tract infection. However, we can't shake the feeling that something else may be wrong. Is there anything else that may be causing this problem?
