It sounds like your kitten had lower than normal oxygenation of her brain during her anesthesia for her spay leading to brain damage. Are you sure gas anesthesia wasn't used?  Gas anesthesia is usually safer and easier to control her plane of anesthesia with. The fact that her eyes were moving (nystagmus) means her balance system in her brain was affected. This would make her wobbly in the rear as well. The eye movement has stopped meaning she is improving. Whatever happened the fact that she is improving is the most important thing. Animals with brain injury that don't improve are the ones to worry about. It may take several weeks to see full improvement but you should see steady gains. In the future if she needs full anesthesia insist upon gas anesthesia.

  • Why does my dog experience tremors & seizure like symptoms after taking Enalapril

How often do you see that Enalapril 2.5mg BID (for a 20lb M dog) causes seizures? My little guy has had seizure activity—lasting hours each time—about an hour after each Enalapril dose. It took 3 doses before I put together the puzzle, as he has other health issues and I had to rule-out his other medications before I could get to the root of the problem. Thank You.

  • My 4 month old puppy has had about 4 episodes of front leg spasms

What could these front leg spasms be? My 4 month old miniature schnauzer has had about 4 episodes of front leg spasms since i've had him. His front legs go rigid as if he's got cramp. I don't think it's epilepsy as he's lucid during these episodes and totally fine afterwards once his legs are ok again. I was just wondering if it's something simple. I was going to take him to the vet, but once it's finished he's fine again so they would not see anything wrong.

  • My dog has unusual seizures... please advise!

Hi! I have a 4mo chihuahua who is 3lbs. Two days ago she had a seizure. This lasted for about 3-4 HOURS. I brought her to the vet immediately the next morning. Her xrays and bloodwork came back negative and I was told to watch her over the next few days to see if another seiz

  • My dog while a sleep seems to twitch in his hind end

My cat is having small tremors My cat Shadow (13 yrs old) loves to jump up on top of my daughter or I when we're lying down. He'll sit down, do "piddy paws" (kneading), then eventually he'll lay down right there on top of us and go to sleep. Lately though when he does this, he seems to twitch in his hind end and won't sit completely on his hind end. He doesn't appear to twitch or not sit properly at any other time. He does not appear to be in pain. Thanks for your time, Michelle

  • Cerebellar hypoplasia in dog, but maybe not?

We adopted a kitten at 5 weeks old who was found alone in the woods abandoned. He was pretty active for a kitten but did show some lack of coordination and had a bit of a bobblehead. During our vacation, he was being watched by my mom and when we returned he was not the same kitten. He was now very inactive and could not walk straight. It looked as though he could not keep his back legs up and he walked sideways falling down all the time. His purring also had diminished. My kitten is losing weight and it was previously thought he had cerebellar hypoplasia but now the vet is not so certain...

We adopted a lab mix when he was 12wks old. The day after we got him he started having seizures. The seizures average every 2 wks and they are always cluster seizures largely all of which are grand mal. He has had as many as 12 in a 24hr period. We've had bile acid tests done & blood work. Our vet has suggested a CTscan, but we just cant afford that. He is currently on phenobarbetol but he has still had seizures. Some vets have suggested he may have brain damage given his age and # of seizures.
