While this neurological condition you describe could be caused by poisoning, this is unlikely if you are unable to locate the source of the poisoning. Most poisons dogs get into cause either gastrointestinal problems such as vomiting and diarrhea or clotting problems such as those caused by rodent poisons. Your dog's problem does not sound like it is related to either of these issues. Because all of her basic blood tests were normal and your regular veterinarian seems to be at a loss for further diagnosis, you may consider asking for a referral to a veterinary neurologist. This is a veterinarian with extra training and experience with neurologic conditions such as your dog has. He or she may have more ideas and resources for further diagnostics or treatments for your dog. Erika, DVM

  • Why does my dog experience tremors & seizure like symptoms after taking Enalapril

How often do you see that Enalapril 2.5mg BID (for a 20lb M dog) causes seizures? My little guy has had seizure activity—lasting hours each time—about an hour after each Enalapril dose. It took 3 doses before I put together the puzzle, as he has other health issues and I had to rule-out his other medications before I could get to the root of the problem. Thank You.

  • My 4 month old puppy has had about 4 episodes of front leg spasms

What could these front leg spasms be? My 4 month old miniature schnauzer has had about 4 episodes of front leg spasms since i've had him. His front legs go rigid as if he's got cramp. I don't think it's epilepsy as he's lucid during these episodes and totally fine afterwards once his legs are ok again. I was just wondering if it's something simple. I was going to take him to the vet, but once it's finished he's fine again so they would not see anything wrong.

  • My dog while a sleep seems to twitch in his hind end

My cat is having small tremors My cat Shadow (13 yrs old) loves to jump up on top of my daughter or I when we're lying down. He'll sit down, do "piddy paws" (kneading), then eventually he'll lay down right there on top of us and go to sleep. Lately though when he does this, he seems to twitch in his hind end and won't sit completely on his hind end. He doesn't appear to twitch or not sit properly at any other time. He does not appear to be in pain. Thanks for your time, Michelle

about a week ago my dog started getting shaky when walking...it started getting worse so i took him in to get looked at. he is a ten yr old chihuahua. Many of the other questions about neurological disorders deal primarily with the hind legs but he struggles more with the front. All his vitals are good. Any thoughts? Thanks!!!

It looked as though he could not keep his back legs up and he walked sideways falling down all the time. His purring also had diminished. My kitten is losing weight and it was previously thought he had cerebellar hypoplasia but now the vet is not so certain...

We adopted a lab mix when he was 12wks old. The day after we got him he started having seizures. The seizures average every 2 wks and they are always cluster seizures largely all of which are grand mal. He has had as many as 12 in a 24hr period. We've had bile acid tests done & blood work. Our vet has suggested a CTscan, but we just cant afford that. He is currently on phenobarbetol but he has still had seizures. Some vets have suggested he may have brain damage given his age and # of seizures.
